Turning recovery into purpose

In June 2025, I tore my Achilles tendon while training for the Beantown Marathon. I was devastated. For weeks, I felt sorry for myself, dwelling on all I was missing out on. Then I thought of my younger brother, who was diagnosed with Early-Onset Parkinson’s Disease (EOPD) at just 38 years old. While I have the opportunity to rehab and recover, his condition is degenerative. This perspective has fueled my recovery and keeps me focused on progress and purpose — not self-pity or what could have been.
On day 111 post-surgery, I took my first running steps again. Remarkably, on day 112, I learned I’d been selected to join Team Fox for the 2026 London Marathon. It felt like my journey had come full circle. And while I still have a long way to go, it feels like the universe is reminding me that I am going to get there.
I have completed 5 marathons in my running career, but running the London Marathon as a member of Team Fox will be the most meaningful. Completing a marathon only 10 months after a devastating injury will be a powerful personal milestone that I hope to use to raise awareness and money for Parkinson's research.
Your support means the world to me and my family. Thank you for helping me honor my brother and everyone living with Parkinson’s.
